Choosing Careers

You may have already done a bunch of these, but I thought it would be worthwhile to take a career aptitude test. The idea is to find out what kinds of jobs are best suited for your personality and interests.

Complete the following quiz and post your results in a comment below.

1) What do you think about the careers that have been suggested to you? Would you consider any of them?
2) Do you think this kind of test is accurate?

I was suggested to study this kind of careers, but I don´t think they are accurate to me. I would consider therapist or phychologist, but I m going to study cooking and Im happy with it.

  3. Mathematical Technicians
    Business Continuity Planners
English Language and Literature Teachers, Postsecondary
    Music Composers and Arrangers
    Poets, Lyricists and Creative Writers
    Political Scientists
    Film and Video Editors
    Editors
Foreign Language and Literature Teachers, Postsecondary
    Art Directors

I think that the careers it suggested me are somehow right, but I think they missed the design related careers. I considered to study Music composing once, three years ago, and I enjoy languages, but there's no way I'd be following a "Mathematical Technician" career, even though I enjoy math and solving problems.

I think it's just as accurate as something you can do without explaining correctly your thoughts about the different careers, so not very much. However, I think they can give ideas about what to study.

    2) i do not think this is tottally accuared, by the way, i think some adolescents nowadays need to do this kind of test to "find" themselves and to know for what kind of jobs are they good at.

    Marketing Managers
    Business Teachers, Postsecondary
    Arbitrators, Mediators, and Conciliators

I actually have to do the quiz twice because the first time the careers suggested from me were nothing to do with me! (It suggested me to be an engineer! Something that I've never even considered doing!)

    1) I haven't considered any of the careers that are on the list. In fact, I won't like to be a teacher of any subject. Although I like sociology, social communication and philosophy I don't think I that the only thing that you can do if you had a degree on that subjects is being a teacher.

    2) In my view, this quiz isn't accurate at all. Maybe we don't have to do it by ourselves and let someone else that know us a lot to take the quiz. I mean, there's sometimes we you can not tell accurately how much are your strengths in a certain area. Plus, I think that these kinds of quizzes always take into account the 'artistic fact' as a synonym of being good at drawing. I don't think that all artistic facts have to do with visual arts, and that actually bothers me a lot, because I'm not that good at drawing but I'm good at acting, creative writing and writing scripts...
I think that none of these "Internet" tests will tell you what do you have to do, and sometimes it can even confuse you more. If you are really keen on knowing your aptitudes and interests better go to a professional vocational orientation workshop.

Here appear some careers that I'm interested. For example, Communications Teachers, Postsecondary. I decided to study to be a kindergarden teacher.

    2) I really don't believe so much in this type of tests. I think that you should do what you really love, it doesn't matter the other. Only if you are very lost in respect of this, you have to talk with a specialist, like a pschylogist.
