DeleteUnder control - The Strokes
ReplyDeleteI don't want to change your mind,
I don't want to waste your time.
I just want to know you're alright.
I've got to know you're alright;
You are young, darling
For now, but not for long
Under control.
When/where did you first hear it? I first heard it three years ago, in my house, when a friend of mine showed it to me. I think I'd heard it before, but I'm not sure.
What kind of song is it? What is it about? It's kind of a slow song, a bit repetitive, with a bittersweet and nostalgic feeling. I think it's about someone that realizes how things change and you feel like you have no control over anything when this happens, specially over beloved ones, but you have to accept it. I'm not certain though, The Stroke's lyrics are quite ambiguous.
What memories do you associate it with? I associate it with a friend of mine that likes this band very much, and particularly, with a time when I had an argument with her.
Why is this song special for you? I like it's nostalgic and bittersweet feeling, and it kind of reminds me that things change and we have to accept it, and that we can't change people or expect them to always be the same, and that's a shame to be in a bad relationship with someone that was a close friend just because of that.
Thanks for such an in-dephth analysis
Deletei don't have a song that influence me i think, but i like some.. for instance ¨my valentine¨ from Paul McCartney

DeleteI don't have a song that infuelce me, but I like some, like "Bailan rochas y chetas" from Nene Malo.
ReplyDeleteI first hear it a month ago, in a party. I didn't know the song's name, so I took my celphon and wrote some words so then I can download it.
It's a kind of remix, that include 3 or 4 songs in only 1. I believe that it treats on the social incorporation, and that the "rochas" and "chetas" could dance together.
I associate it with that party, and I imagine "rochas" and "chetas" dancing together.
For me is special because I got good memories of that party

ReplyDeleteA question of lust - Depeche Mode
ReplyDeleteWhen/where did you first hear it?
The first time I heard the song was about a year ago, in my boyfriend's house. Although I liked Depeche Mode, I hadn't listened to this song before at that time.
What kind of song is it? What is it about?
It's an electronic song, with a relaxing synth and with romantic lyrics. It may be described as a little depressing melody but in my opinion it's quite a balanced and harmonic song, which makes it perfect to listen to when you want to calm down.
The song is about lust and love. In the lyrics it's expressed the dichotomy of a man/woman that feels lust but also feels love at the same time.
What memories do you associate it with?
I associate this song with my boyfriend, of course, and with the relationship that I have with him. Every time I hear it I feel identified with the stanzas, specially this verse:
"My weaknesses
You know each and every one (it frightens me)".
I've been with him 2 years and a half now, so we pretty know a lot about each other.
I also associate it to the feeling I have when I want to give up with everything (not only my relationship with my boyfriend, but also my life in general). Whenever I hear to this song, this stanza in particular always made me feel a bit more confident about the decisions I take:
"It's a question of not letting what we built up crumble to dust"
Why is this song special for you?
As I said before, this song is special before it reminds me of my boyfriend and it also reminds me to never give up to my impulses and to keep on trying with everything I do.

When/where did you first hear it?
I heard it when I was 12 years old.
What kind of song is it?
What is it about? It is a slow song, characteristic of alternative rock. It´s about a man who was afraid his lover left him.
What memories do you associate it with? / Why is this song special for you?
I don´t associate that song with something special, but was the fist song of Coldplay that I heard, and from there I started to like the band.
ok, thanks Guadalupe! A very nice song indeed!

ReplyDeleteI chose the song call "Dudas" by El Polaco. The first time I heard It was when I was 13 years old, and it was at the beginning of 2008. Is a cumbia song about a man that a sings to a woman and says how much he loves her.
Is one of my favorite songs and every time that I hear it, I remember the first live concert of El Polaco that I assisted. "Dudas" was the opening song of the first concert that I've been. As you know, El Polaco is my favorite singer since 7 years.
Thanks for sharing!
