Some more 'Fever Pitch'

I've noticed that most of you are a bit behind, so I' going to be easy on you for this week...

Remember last week we read/watched bits from Fever Pitch?

Look at the trailers for the British and American versions of the film:

Compare and contrast them in a comment below.

  1. I think in both cases is about a couple which is affected by love for the sport, football in the first (UK) and baseboll in the second (us). Despite the different views of the countries, the two men feel an attraction to the sport apart from your partner, which begins with their claims, as the second viedeo when she says "Is only to match" and everyone is silent and looks badly.

    1. Good ideas, Valentin. You made a few mistakes which makes it difficult to understand some parts of your answers, though, be careful with that :)

  2. The fist difference I can see in the videos are tha the fisrt video is about fanaticism the protagonist has for football and the second video is abaout the fanaticism for beisball.
In both cases the love of a woman is put into play.

  3. In both trailers you can see that the protagonist is a man completely obsessed with his favorite team. This deep and unconditional love made difficult for him to date a woman because he is thinking every time about their team: in the first video, this is represented by the man wearing an underwear that had the pattern of the logo of his football team, and in the second video this is represented when the protagonist’s girlfriend ask the man to go out with her and he didn’t want to go because that day there was a match of the team that he followed.
In the first video the protagonist is a teacher, and he followed a football team. While in the second video, the protagonist is an ordinary man that dedicated his whole life to a baseball team (he had his house full of t-shirts, bats, baseball balls, magazines of his favorite team and so on).
Personally, I think that the second trailer shows much more exaggeration about the obsession of the man for his team.

    1. I do agree that perhaps the second one is more exaggerated, I guess that has to do with British films vs American films in general...

  4. In both trailers for the British and American versions of the film "fever pitch", i can see that the protagonist is a man who is obsessed with a team, they both are fans but a big difference is that the man in the first trailer followed a football team while the other man followed baseball and all in his life is that sport.
Both man get involved in a relationship, they fall in love with a women but the relation is weird and complicate because both man are always thinking in his favourite team.
A clearly example of what I had said before is when the man in the second trailer was asked by his gilrfriendto to go out one day and he refused the invitation because of a match of his team.

  5. Hahaha the second triler its so funny. Well, both films are representing the obsession or may be the fanatiscm for a team, in the first case its a soccer team and in the second trailer we can see that its about a baseball one.
In both cases, there is a man who is involved in a relationship with a woman and their fanatiscm of both sports bring them many conflicts in the relation.
I enjoy the part when the man of the second trailer seemed to ask her for marriage and in the box where the ring should be, there were some tickets for an important baseball match. This actitude represents the obssesion of the man in the second case. And looking foward to a clear example to show the fanatiscm for the first trailer, its was so funny in the scene where the man was wearing underwear with de logo of his favourite soccer team.

  6. Well, this movies are about the same story, but the way of telling it is quite different. In the 1997's trailer, we can see that the movie has a much more dramatic approach than the newer one, that's a comedy. Also, the American version is told from the girl's point of view, and naturally, it is more up to date (as in the trailer the girl starts talking about celphones, blackberrys..) than the older movie.
Oh, and the most obvious difference is that in the first movie the man is crazy about a football team, while in the second he's obsessed with a baseball team..

  7. both of them talk about sports and love, and how affected can be the love life of a couple becuase of the fanatisims with sports. in the first video the problem is with the football, whereas the second the main problem is with beisball.
the problems began when boths man think more about sports than about their relationship.

  8. Both films show the fanatism of a team. And they relation it with love. I understand that what this show it that sometimes you can have a big obsession for a equip, and love it more than a person, but what you can do is mix them, for example taking your girlfriend to the match.
